En Japanese Dining Bar

Orange Squash $6.50

R: We kinda lost our way trying to get to En Jap Dining Bar so we were sweating profusely and when we reached, all we wanted to order first was a COLD DRINK. K ordered the orange squash which turns out soooo refreshing (sprite & orange juice mixture) and had us wanting more!

K: Light and refreshing, most importantly not too sweet. The perfect start to a warm evening.
K's Verdict: 3.5/5

Chawanmushi $6.80

K & R: Generous ingredients, lots of seaweed and fish roe. The seaweed is a unique addition, unlike any chawanmushi we've eaten. However we felt it was too bland, the seaweed failed to cause any significant impact to the taste.

K's Verdict: 3/5

 Salmon Sashimi $11.50 @ 50% discount = $5.75

K: Fresh and reasonably thick. I've tasted fresher ones at Ikoi but 6 slices for $5.75 this is a steal!
K's Verdict: 3/5

Chutoro Sashimi $20 (Not in menu)

The waitress must have overheard our conversation (oops!) and recommended us their fresh stock of the day. Firm, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth yumminess 6 slices of heaven!

K's Verdict: 5/5!

Tsukune (Chicken meatballs) $9

K & R: Slightly too dry on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. I'm not sure what seasoning they used but it tasted slightly peppery. With a splash of teriyaki sauce and an egg to dip it in, hmm... simple comfort food. Do watch out for bone fragments or cartilages though.

K's Verdict: 3.5/5

Unagi Fried Rice $13

K: A must try! Very fragrant with chunks of unagi bursting at every bite and evenly coated rice. However, I felt it was a little too oily. Portion is okay, just enough for 2 to share with space left for more food.
K's Verdict: 4/5

R: She almost gobbled the whole plate, that proves alot. Extremely fragrant, we almost chomp it down without taking pictures of it, too damn tempting..

Goma Ice cream (Black Sesame) $5

K: Who can resist desserts? Goma Ice Cream came with a sprinkle of black sesame seed and a dollop of whipped cream on the side. Nice touch, the seed gave the ice cream more texture and flavour but I felt the whipped cream was unnecessary. It made the ice cream too sweet and well... creamy.
K's Verdict: 3/5

R: My personal favourite japanese styled ice-cream. This Goma Ice Cream is a good compliment to end our evening on a high note, though I agree it's a little too creamy for my liking as well. I've tasted better =)

The bill for the night. T_T

Not in pictures: Enoki Bacon
K: Much raved about Enoki Bacon was a let down. Enoki was burnt, bacon was tasteless and tough. Will I order this again? I don't think so. (Unless someone's treating me.) With a $7 price tag I expected much better.

R: Might be due to our own personal preferences, I thought Enoki Bacon tasted like crap! Took me quite a while to fully chew it and yucks, I totally hate it...

Ratings
Ambience: Not bad for a dining bar, but can get quite noisy when the dinner crowd comes. Get the inside seats as it can be quiet humid outside.

Value: Slightly steep. However, if you order the right dishes its pretty value for money.

Service: Attentive and efficient even with the dinner crowd. Friendly staff.

Overall comments: Not the place to go for if you're expecting great ambience, but if you're craving for sushi late at night then you're at the right place.
